THE ROUCOU PROPERTY AND BENEFITS
A native of tropical America, the roucou (Bixa orellana L.) is called urucum in Brazil and achiote in Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua. It is a tree or a shrub with pink flowers and inedible red spiny red fruits, full of seeds, also red.
This plant was traditionally used by the Indians of the Amazon and the indigenous of the Caribbean islands as an aroma or pigment for the body, to protect themselves from the sun and mosquitoes. Its recurrent use gave rise to the nickname of "redskin".
The laboratory LIGNE ST BARTH has developed an original cold extraction process to collect all the active ingredients contained in the seeds of the fruit. Very rich in beta-carotene (100 times more than the carrot) and vitamin E, natural antioxidants, and minerals and trace elements (such as calcium, sulfur, magnesium, selenium, zinc and copper) this extract is an excellent solar preparer as it stimulates the synthesis of melanin. So the skin, while it assumes a natural golden color, is protected from UV aggression.
OXIDE OF ZINCOPROPRIETÀ AND BENEFITS
Mineral solar filter, extracted directly from a natural element, zinc oxide, protects the epidermis by reflecting the sun's rays. Not being absorbed by the skin, it minimizes the risk of an allergic reaction and is suitable for the whole family. A true accomplice of sensitive skin, it allows to offer formulas with refined textures guaranteeing the necessary protection index.
THE WAIST OF APIPROPRIETY AND BENEFITS
Natural substance used since ancient times, beeswax (Cera alba) is secreted by bees to build hexagonal cells typical of the hive. It is in these structures that honey is stored and young bees are bred. To extract the honey, the beekeeper removes the wax plugs, which he recovers by separating them from the residual honey and other impurities by heating them in water. The nest sections containing the young bees are not destroyed: only the used cells are collected.
Beeswax has numerous therapeutic properties. It is used in particular to heal contusions, inflammations and burns. Complex mixture of waxy esters of fatty acids and fatty alcohols, of free fatty acids and of long-chain hydrocarbon compounds including vitamin A (or retinol) which softens, nourishes the skin and helps to create a protective barrier thanks to its power forming. It is also used to thicken the texture.
LIGNE ST BARTH has added this ingredient in its formulas for the emollient properties of wax that performs a particularly beneficial action on dry skin.
THE BISABOLOLO
Bisabolol is a natural substance obtained by fractional distillation of the essential oil of Candeia wood (Vanillosmopsis erythropappa), a tree of the Asteraceae family native to Brazil, and has a lower risk of allergies than oil that is often extracted from the flower of chamomile.
The (L) -alpha-bisabolol, an active plant form, is mainly used to calm skin irritations, reducing the sensation of discomfort. It also acts as a repairer and healer and is particularly recommended for sensitive and damaged skin.
THE CALENDULA BENEFITS
The calendula flower (Calendula officinalis) has been cultivated for several centuries in temperate climates. In Latin vulgaris it was called "solsequier", which means "that follows the sun" because the flowers hatch when the sun is high in the sky and close when it sets. Flowers of a color between yellow and orange are picked in spring when they mature.
LIGNE ST BARTH uses only marigold flowers from organic farming to ensure the quality of its plant extract, processed by macerating whole previously dried flowers. Cold maceration is a delicate method that has the particularity of not heating the flowers and therefore better preserving the active ingredients. The oily macerate contains carotenoids (about 20 including β-carotene, flavoxanthin, lutein and lycopene) with antioxidant and photoprotective action.
In the dermatological field, the calendula extract has long proven its soothing and calming properties and is used in particular in various applications against irritation, burns and chapping. It gives softness and elasticity in particular to sensitive and mature skin.
